Village Bakery – Breakfast as a special experience, the artisanal surprise that locals and travelers fall in love with.
The Village Bakery, located in Vilagarcía de Arousa (Ponevedra) “Is a dream come true. The breakfast experience I always dreamed of for my customers.”
“It hasn’t been easy; I bet everything on an idea and a vision: to offer quality and excellence to a public that values things made with love.”
Today we present an example of how effort and excellence combined gave rise to a successful business based on hard work, vision, and a lot of effort. Behind success lies all the love you put into it + perseverance. That’s how Village Bakery was conceived and built.
I turned a simple idea into a mission, investing every ounce of energy and knowledge into it.
The Village Bakery is a Local Secrets located in the beautiful town of Vilagarcía de Arousa, in the province of Pontevedra. It is a hidden gem that we discovered to show travelers and food lovers.
Behind this project is Maribel Fernández (Mani), an enthusiastic person with a lot of passion and determination. Today we review the story behind this business, a dream come true through hard work and perseverance.
The Village Bakery was founded in July 2018. Mani, its founder, had two passions at the time: a vocation for service and a passion for cooking.
Her heart was torn between local cuisine (Galician specialities) and baking.
When she thought about and considered taking the plunge, she opted for a revolutionary idea that would change the way her fellow countrymen understood breakfast, from a quick, worthless meal to an experience that leaves you with a smile and a feeling of well-being for the rest of the day.
Mani had a commercial profile from a young age, starting very young with commercial jobs, always in contact with the public. She was an insurance saleswoman, a jewellery saleswoman, a real estate agent, and it was not until 2000, when a personal tragedy struck her life, that she felt the need to change and devote herself to her true passion, gastronomy, something that would occupy her mind on the one hand and on the other hand would counteract the pain of the loss of a loved one.
She started out as a sales representative for the famous Thermomix. She specialised in presenting one of the most famous food processors in Europe, a machine that helps you prepare really delicious dishes in the kitchen, quickly and easily, without compromising on quality or excellence in the results.
As a Thermomix presenter, she began to develop her entrepreneurial spirit and a vision that, years later, would result in a concept whose success is now a reality.
Shortly before taking the plunge, Mani had already been mulling over the idea of creating a space, a sanctuary for breakfast, a place where breakfast was much more than ‘eating quickly or having a coffee’. For several years, she had had in mind a special, cosy place where you could sit calmly and enjoy fresh, delicious, healthy products made with a lot of love. I want the love and enthusiasm I put into cooking to reach the plate with the same intensity.

Commitment to fresh, locally sourced food and top-tier suppliers
At Village Bakery, products are chosen with care and high standards.
The tomatoes come from the garden, grown less than 10 km from where we are located, and we choose the varieties and colors.
Our suppliers know what we want and deliver high-quality products. The relationship with our suppliers is another fundamental pillar of our business.
We are selective and demanding, but it is thanks to them that we can offer products of the highest quality.
Coffee is usually the star of breakfast, and we have achieved the right balance where coffee or tea occupy an appropriate place. However, we have not forgotten how important these drinks are to accompany our products.
That is why we use high-quality coffees and select varieties and roasts that are compatible with the well-balanced, delicious coffee we have achieved. There is a lot of science and work behind this. In this case, the secret is to research, learn, and choose the right coffee supplier.
What is the secret to Village Bakery's success?
There is no secret behind our offerings; we use very basic and simple ingredients, but they are fresh and of the highest quality. There are no hidden secrets.
We focus primarily on the product; our focus and priority is to develop and offer a product that has three main strengths.
1. Appearance
2. Smell
3. Taste
We achieve the appearance through production and finishing techniques that require time and careful work.We ensure that the smell in the Village Bakery is always that of freshly baked goods. Our products are so fresh that we produce and serve them in a very short time.
We achieve the taste because we use top-quality, flavorful, and fresh ingredients.
There is one thing we never hide from anyone: we are constantly innovating and improving our products and production processes, always searching for new combinations of flavors, colors, etc.
